ABOUT US

Sun. Stitch. Story.

Founder, freelance designer

“I’d rather pay for a sketch than queue for a label.”

A refusal to conform led to SunnySass: handcraft, light and wearable stories.

How It Started

Origin Story

As a child I spent pocket money on sketches and color, not labels. Growing up, I grew tired of outfits that felt like a script — dressing to fit expectations instead of voice. SunnySass was born from that refusal: we use thread and light to make garments that speak. We don’t chase trends; we make for those who wear their voice.

Our Mission

Our founder wanted to bring visible craft and invisible technology into one garment.

Our goal is to connect traditional handiwork with modern life: to let the warmth of handcraft and the play of light be felt in everyday urban moments.

Craft & Heritage — Su Embroidery Reimagined

Craft & Heritage — Su Embroidery Reimagined

Su embroidery is one of China’s renowned traditional needle arts, celebrated for its fine stitches and layered depth. We collaborate with experienced Su-embroidery ateliers to apply this intricate craft to contemporary apparel. Each SunnySass tee features heavy hand-embroidery — with over 1,000,000 needle passes per piece. Every stitch requires a steady hand and precise skill, demanding far more time and care than ordinary embroidery or printing.

Design Philosophy

SunnySass balances sunlight and playfulness. We treat natural light as part of the design: the motif isn’t a static decoration but something that changes and tells the present moment under shifting light. Heavy hand-embroidery gives each piece a sense of time and collectibility, allowing trend and tradition to coexist.

How a piece is born: from light to stitch

  • Sketch

Design inspired by light and nature.

  • Zone

Decide which areas will change color and which hues to reveal.

  • Map

Embroidery patterns and stitch layers are planned.

  • Stitch

Hand embroidery executed (needle counts often >1,000,000).

Mint-Cooling Fabric Technology

To support heavy stitchwork and wearable comfort, we developed a mint-cooling fabric — 60% Cotton / 40% New Polyester.

  • quick-dry
  • antibacterial
  • mite-resistance
  • cooling yarns
  • negative ions

Sustainability & Responsibility

Heavy handwork requires time and labor and naturally results in lower-volume production. We favor limited runs and made-to-demand approaches to reduce overstock and waste. Fabrics and treatments comply with textile safety standards; mite-resistant and antibacterial processes use compliant materials to minimize impact on people and the environment.

Limited hand-made runs — each piece limited; restocks require artisan lead time.

Each SunnySass piece is an accumulation of time and light. If you want a wearable collectible that reveals itself in sunlight, explore our collections or subscribe for early access to limited drops.
